In August 2008 Dell introduced the 3130cn color printer in North America as a replacement for the 3100cn. Designed for small and medium businesses and larger workgroups, the 3130 had an OEM-rated print speed of 31 pages per minute (ppm) for black and 26 ppm for color, with a duty cycle of 70,000 pages per month. The model was upgraded in September 2010 with the addition of a duplex unit as a standard feature.

The toner cartridges are chipped, and are available in low yield (3,000 page black / 4,000 page color) as well as 9,000 page high yield versions. The chip board is physically the same as that in the 3110 cartridge, with a housing and a wire coil that acts as an antenna/transformer.

Many of the components used to remanufacture Dell 3130 printer cartridges are used to remanufacture cartridges for Dell 3110,Epson AcuLaser C2800/C3800, Fuji-Xerox C3290FS, Lexmark X560, and Xerox Phaser 6180/6280 printers.
